The Essence of Surrender:
If you really stop to think of it...We All need love
For what is there in life that surmounts the privilege
When the giving of ourselves in such selfless fashion
Gives us possession beyond the greatest of all riches
To be able to touch one another and gather the hope of each
As if it at once became our own
When one gives without the notion of getting,
And receives without the notion of being taken over
Then one tastes the seed of love at once to plant this seed and watch it grow
Then one is possessed by the seed and not the notion
To receive love's greatest blessing knowing that in real love there is surrender
Yet so much to gain
One is not born to be lonely nor generally wishes to be so
Even the Island welcomes the Trees
And the waves lamping at it's fringes
Perhaps we even gather possessions for the longing,
Not to rest ourselves in an empty room
What do you feel when my hand touches your face?
And when your lips bridge the gap to mine?
Do you not consider a need?
And is there not a surrender if even on the part of both?
As the night comes down on my shoulders
And I feel the nearness of you
I begin to encounter the need
For you have become the fragments of a soul,
... So incomplete in your absence
